I remember when makeup subscription boxes started becoming a thing. Every single makeup guru on YouTube used to rave about their monthly boxes. I was curious about the idea, but skeptical at the same time. Would it be worth it?
Three years and one month ago I took the dive and subscribed to Boxycharm. It had been a time where I started practicing minimalism. I wanted to cut down on the material items I was purchasing and not waste money on heaps of beauty products that would be impossible for me alone to get through. So, is Boxycharm worth it? In short, yes.
What I enjoyed about this beauty subscription box was that I was getting more than my money’s worth. I spent $25 a month and received anywhere from $100-$200 worth of beauty products. Getting 4-5 new products each month was not overwhelming in terms of my then-newly minimal lifestyle. I simply kept the products I enjoyed and if I knew right off the bat I wouldn’t like something, I set it aside to gift it later.
Now, is Boxycharm perfect? Nope. I’ve been sent items that I was just not interested in or did not suit my lifestyle. For example, I had received a neon eyeshadow palette in one of my boxes and I knew I wasn’t ever going to use it. However, I passed it on to a friend who was an up-and-coming makeup artist at the time and she was impressed by the quality.
Bottom line, I think Boxycharm is a solid beauty subscription box for the value and the quality of products you receive. Although you may receive indie brand items, most boxes include reputable brands like Tarte, Nars, Tatcha, Sunday Riley, and RGK (just to name a few). I like a solid 80% of the items sent to me. Over the course of 3 years, I would say that is a significantly positive number.
If you love makeup, skincare or hair products you will love this box. If you have an issue with spending too much on makeup, this might also be the solution. Since I’ve subscribed to Boxycharm I haven’t felt the need to splurge on makeup because I get to try out new goodies from reputable brands found in Sephora, Ulta, etc.

Here are all of the goodies I received in my November 2020 Boxycharm and my first impressions:
Earth Harbor Naturals | Helios Anti-Pollution Youth Ampoule | MSRP: $48
This serum is supposed to protect you from pollution and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. I did some research and it’s highly reviewed so I can’t wait to give it a try. I’ll let you guys know my thoughts on Insta once I’ve tried it.
Natasha Denona | Peak Palette | MSRP: $48
Natasha Denona’s eyeshadows are very high quality and costly so I’m happy to see this in the box. This palette was a collaboration between Natasha Denona and Boxycharm. Right off the bat, the color story is beautiful and resonates with the wonderful fall season. I’m definitely going to get a lot of use out of this one.
Jouer Cosmetics | Lip Enhancer | MSRP: $17
I’ve never used anything like this before. My best guess is this is supposed to be something along the lines of a lip primer. I can imagine it would be great to prep your lips while doing your makeup. Excited to try!
INT Cosmetics | Lip Oil | MSRP: $11
Ahh, a lip oil. I’m sure it’s great, but something about the feeling of oily lips does not appeal to me. This one is going to a friend or family member.
Bodyography | Eye Pencil Duo | MSRP: $16
Duo? Apparently there were supposed to be 2 of these, but I got only one. I’ve been into deep chocolate brown liners lately so I’m not mad about it.
Box total: $146
Final Thoughts
I’m excited to try the serum based on all the great reviews I’ve read about it. I’ve never tried Natasha Denona’s eyeshadows, but my best friend who is a makeup artist raves about the shadows so I’m excited to try it. The Jouer lip enhancer could be a nice treat versus my good old Chapstick while getting ready. The only miss for me may be the lip oil and I’ll be giving it away before even opening it. I’m just not a fan of the slippery feel of lip oils. Overall, November 2020 Boxycharm was a great box and I can’t wait for next month’s!
If you would like to sign up for your own box, you can do so here.
Side note: Thank you all for your patience and continued support as I transition my life from Pennsylvania to Texas! It’s been a wild ride and we are just starting to get settled in Texas. There is so much coming to this blog that I’m ecstatic to share.
Thanks for reading!

November 16, 2020 at 4:42 pmI’m not a makeup expert and scared to try new things, but those who enjoy makeup and testing different kind of products this would be such a good option for them. Once they can find a product they really like they can buy it separately. At first I was thinking oh wont it be a waste getting so many different products if you end up not using, but you made such a good suggestion that you can gift others. Overall love and enjoy the read and keep it up ^o^ <3
